She's Finally HOME! Holiday Project Family 49

I am finally HOME, discharged from the NICU after 4 months, on 1/4 liter of oxygen and a monitor. So far, I'm doing really great, I've gained an entire pound in 2 weeks time and now I weigh 8lbs 9oz! My Mom is so proud! I was supposed to go home before Christmas but had a terrible fight with RSV, then staphylococcal pneumonia, then sepsis. Christmas was really difficult for my family but I used all my strength I FOUGHT my way to pull through. The staff in the NICU began to call me The Miracle Baby!

My Mom said, "I just want to thank you again for all of your kindness, support, and prayers.  I really believe that God surrounded us with angels such as yourself to help us get through the last few months!"

HOLIDAY PROJECT – FAMILY 49

I was born at 27 weeks gestation weighing 1# 9 oz. I saw Mom for only a few minutes before being rushed to the NICU. I had a breathing tube and was too sick to be held at first. One of the best days of my life was when I was 2 weeks old and snuggled Mom for the first time. I’ve been in the NICU for 2 months and have had setbacks but I am STRONG and feisty! I’m recovering from pneumonia and getting oxygen from a CPAP machine. I’m growing and improving every day. Now, I weigh 4# 4 oz and am learning how to eat from a bottle. My Christmas wish is to be home with my Mom & my big sister.

HOLIDAY PROJECT – FAMILY 48

I spent the first 3 months of my life in the NICU because I was born very early. I faced a lot of challenges including breathing problems, stomach surgery, and many blood transfusions. I was discharged home with oxygen but I'm so happy to have 5 big brothers and sisters to help take care of me!! There is so much love at home with my family.

HOLIDAY PROJECT – FAMILY 47

I was born at just 24 weeks gestation weighing only 1 pound and 12 ounces. I've come a log way and overcame many battles in the NICU. On one of the best days of my life, I was welcomed home by my 3 brothers and 2 sisters. I still need oxygen to help me breathe easy and a lot of special care at home but I'm growing big a strong, weighing 9 pounds now. I'm so excited to be home with my family for Christmas. Mom and Dad could use some extra help to make this holiday season special for all of us.

HOLIDAY PROJECT – FAMILY 46

I was born 6 week early and spent the first 2 weeks of my life in the ICU. It was hard being away from my family and I’m so happy to be home with them! Everyday when I wake up, I cannot WAIT to see my 2 big brothers, they make me smile and laugh. On Christmas Day last year, my family had a house fire and lost a lot. Mom says this year is going to be better because with me in the family now, there's that much more love to go around for all of us.

HOLIDAY PROJECT – FAMILY 45

We are twin boys born at 26 weeks gestation. Little brother weighed 1 lb, 15oz & big brother weighed 2 lb, 1 oz. We have had our ups and downs in the NICU and we still have obstacles to overcome before we're ready to go home. We are strong and healthy boys. Our Mom says the best moment will be when we can go home and be together as a family.

HOLIDAY PROJECT – FAMILY 44

I was born full term weighing 7 # 4 oz. Mom had an emergency C- section, uterine rupture, and placental abruption. I had no heartbeat. The doctors told my mother that I wouldn’t make it past one day old and if I did I was going to be brain dead. In my first two days, I had 3 seizures. I was too sick to be held by my mother, this hurt her to the core.  Finally, at 1 month old, I was in her arms and close to her heart. I was diagnosed with subglottic stenosis at 1 month and couldn’t drink a full bottle. Now, I have a feeding tube inside of my stomach to help me eat. I spent two months of my life living in the NICU before going home. This has been a tough year for me and my family, but we made it through all these storms. I am healthy as can be and will only get stronger from this.

HOLIDAY PROJECT – FAMILY 43

When I was still inside my Mom, our family was in a car accident. It was a very scary event but everything seemed fine. Three days later I was born at 29 weeks gestation by emergency c-section because of a placenta abruption. My journey in the NICU was very difficult for my family but I am a fighter and I am strong! I’m almost 3 months old now and doing great at home where I love spending time with my big brothers. I still wear oxygen and a heart monitor but I’m growing and eating well.

HOLIDAY PROJECT – FAMILY 42

I was born in November 2016 with something on my tummy called an oomphalocele. I needed a lot of special care after I was born to help fix my tummy and keep my blood sugar under control. I had over seven surgeries and spent almost 11 months in the NICU and PICU away from my family. Despite everything I’ve been through, I am the happiest baby and am such a strong fighter! I finally came home in October 2017 to my 11 siblings and my parents. I love spending time with my family!

HOLIDAY PROJECT – FAMILY 41

We are twin sisters born 3 days apart at 23 weeks gestation weighing 1# 5 oz & 1# 4 oz. We’ve been in the hospital for almost 3 months already. When we were born, we needed special machines to help us breathe and we both had heart surgery. We are growing fast and now weigh 4# 9 oz & 4# 1 oz. Big sister is trying to go home before Christmas but little sister will need to stay in the NICU longer to have a special shunt placed in her brain. As you can see, we are strong girls. Mom & Dad love us so much and they look forward to the day we can ALL be together at home.
