The 2014 Holiday Project
Thanks to the support from community partners, contributors, and hard work from a team of volunteers, these six (6) special NICU families had a wonderful Christmas!
I was in the NICU for 5 months, it was a difficult time for my whole family because we live very far away from the hospital. We're all so happy, now that I'm home. I have oxygen and a special monitor to make sure I'm safe all the time. I have a lot of brothers and sisters and cousins to keep me company at home.
My sister and I were born 10 weeks early and weighed 2 lbs 3 oz. and 3 lbs 5 oz. We have been in the hospital for 7 weeks growing and getting stronger. We now weigh 5 lbs 10 oz. and 5 lbs and 5 oz. We had testing this week to determine if we needed surgery and those results were negative so no surgery needed! We can’t wait to go home and be with our older brother and sisters. My parents were hoping we will be home for Thanksgiving and it looks like that's going to happen! My mom will be so thankful because it's been so hard having us at the hospital away from our parents and siblings.
I'm 6 months old and spent the first 4 months of my life in the NICU. When I was there the surgeons had to remove some of my intestines. Now I have a special IV in my chest and a G-tube to help me get all my nutrition. I'm happy to be living with my Mommy at home now. I get lots of love and attention from her and my home nurses.
Holiday Project Family #26
I was born 3 months early and only weighed 1 pound 9 ounces. I had to have an open heart surgery and another surgery to repair 3 hernias. I had to be put on a ventilator 3 different times. But, I am doing much better now! I am breathing well and gaining weight. I am up to 4
pounds 5 ounces! The doctors and nurses say I am such a good little guy and following all of the rules to go home. Speaking of going home, they think I might make it home before Christmas. I have a big brother who is waiting to play with me. What a great present for my family!
I was born full-term but my intestines didn't work quite right. I had two surgeries on my belly and spent 77 days in the NICU. I have been home for a while now and have two big brothers who are very thankful that I get to spend the holidays at home with them.
I'm a twin but my brother didn't make it. I miss him a lot and so does my family. I was born at only 30 weeks gestation and weighed 3 pounds, 7 ounces. After almost 6 months in the NICU, I now weigh 11 pounds, 5 ounces. I’ve had surgery on my intestines because they were sick and I’ll need to have another surgery sometime to fix things up more. I'm a fighter and strong. My mommy, daddy, and big brother cannot wait for me to come home.
